Help! My wax seal stamp is sticking to the wax?
This is not uncommon, particularly if you’re making a big batch of seals! The brass can become very hot, causing the stamp to stick to the wax.
You can cool down your stamp in a shallow bowl of cold water [or some ice] in between uses. Make sure you dry it before the next stamp, and avoid getting the timber handle wet.
Finally, make sure you leave the stamp on the wax long enough for the wax to set, before you lift it off. This can take 30 seconds or more, and will depend on the temperature of the wax, the brass and the room temperature.
